Islamic fundamentalists and Western Orientalists often emphasize pre-modern resonances in contemporary Muslim communities. Over the past generation, by contrast, an interdisciplinary set of scholars has come to emphasize the ways in which Islamic historical heritages are extruded, redefined, or invented through modern processes. We label this emerging field "Muslim Modernities." The idea of modernity was invented in Western Europe to distinguish the region from the rest of the world, including Muslim societies. Scholars disagreed about what modernity consisted of -- capitalism, division of labor, rationalization, ...
a club is, in terms of its quality of facilities, equipment, furniture, and other elements, the more likely customers are to encounter cover charges and fees for premium features. Once a customer has been admitted into a strip club, most of the premises, other than employee and premium spaces, are accessible. Portions of a club that are used only for the operation and maintenance of the facility are typically access-restricted to staff and performers only. Security of both club assets and personnel is a primary driver for limiting access to these zones. American-style striptease, closely associated with modern clubs, began to ...

'Marketing' Defined – It's Not A Dirty Word
If someone else tells the young woman how handsome, smart and successful her date is — that’s public relations.” S.H. Simmons This is the great debate in the legal profession – legal marketing. And it brings out the zealots on both sides. Within the profession legal marketing is a hot button issue like abortion, gay rights and stem cell research.  There are extremists on each side of the debate and the majority who reside somewhere in the middle. The problem is everyone talks about marketing as if they know what it really is.  The reality is most don’t but they have strong opinions, nonetheless.  ... market research, surveys and trends

Foreign Investment And Human Rights - Research and Read Books ...
Many believe that foreign investors insensitively ignore human rights. But the relationship is more complex, argues this political scientist. Multinational corporations have long been associated with political power. They are a visible extension of market norms and cultural preferences, of Coca-Cola capitalism and Fordist industrialization. For decades, critics have charged that the global reach of multinational firms robs developing nations of their economic sovereignty - that it skews the allocation of resources in the international economy and bolsters the position of repressive regimes. The New Economy
In an ecologically stressed world, we cannot entrust our future to an economy based primarily on people buying a lot of resource-intensive goods that they really don't need, often can't afford, and--if they reflected at any length--actually don't want. Our country must change the face of commerce by shifting away from reliance on the sale of consumer items built for abbreviated durability and one-time disposal. The U.S. economy must depend more heavily on the marketing of technological innovation. Expansion and maintenance of municipal and transportation infrastructures and alternative energy systems should be ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

The New York City Community Emergency Response Team feels that it owes the community an apology on behalf of New York City Office of Emergency Management. The NYC CERT receives accolades for its community work and we are totally embarrassed that we were not utilized to assist the first responders in a case such as this. Did Anything Happen to the Moral/Ethical Compass during the Recent ...

Yet others diverted into different lines of business successfully or not. Some chose to hibernate; lying low to let the tide pass over. Some of the ingenious ones even took up an overall re-engineering to make a complete turnaround in the way they do business because it could not hurt more any way. What intrigues my mind is, do we know what happened to the morality part of the business leaders during this crises? Were ethics put on the altar? Did ...
