Team Marketing Report has released details on their forthcoming Fan Cost Index and average ticket pricing reports, and with it, the league will see a decidedly “New York” hue to the overall pricing for tickets, concessions, and merchandise at the ballpark this year. Based on season-ticket prices and TMR’s weighted system, the Yankees’ average ticket is an eye-popping $72.97, according to TMR calculations, and the Mets’ 36.99. Both increases helped the league-average ticket price up 5.4 percent in 2009, to $26.74. If you take the Mets and Yankees out of the equation, this year and last year, and the average ticket for the other ...

New foods abound at ballparks, but hot dog still fan favorite
The hot dog’s reign as food supreme at ballparks and stadiums across the country is being challenged as more and more venues embrace high-quality, gourmet food options. For $8, Cubs fans at Wrigley Field can dine on a bison burger; $10 will get you a dish of truffled macaroni and cheese at Dallas’ Cowboys Stadium, an item added to the menu last year. Alaskan king crab at Yankee Stadium will set you back $17.50. Not typical fare for sports games and concerts, but growing in popularity as catering services and stadium owners recognize a consumer demand for more choices. “People want options,” Ron Krivosik, vice-president ... market research, surveys and trends
Update: Chiefs agree to deal with DT Smith | Red Zone
Smith gives the Chiefs another nose tackle to pair with Ron Edwards but also has the ability to play either end position in the three-man front. Smith is a six-year veteran, having played with New Orleans, Cleveland and Cincinnati. His best seasons came with the Browns, then coached by Romeo Crennel. Crennel is now the Chiefs defensive coordinator. Smith was suspended for four games last season by the NFL for violation of the league's steroid policy. Smith is one of my best player so I hope he will come back as soon as possible in the game. May all the players be alert with the rules of the game so they they will not be ... market research, surveys and trends

Team Marketing Report -- Your Respected Source for Sports Business ...
EDITOR'S NOTE: I wanted to write a small aside for the critics among us, dealing with some criticism I've read/heard about toward the methodology of the FCI. We at Team Marketing Report understand that you don't have to buy two hats or two programs. But make sure ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

They say the system is broken. And there's every reason to believe change is coming, as NFL owners and some veteran players decry the record-setting rookie contracts for top-tier draft picks. But at what price? That's the question the NFL Players Association better consider before conceding anything on the issue of a rookie wage scale in negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement. Commissioner Roger Goodell reiterated this week that reining in rookie salaries as a "critical" issue for the league. "I think it's important that we have a system that is designed to reward players who succeed ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
