I just listened to “the tipping point” audio book by Malcolm Gladwell because I had heard about it several times and wanted to read it for myself. The book basically covers “How things spread” and how WOM works. Word of mouth can either work for you as a business owner or marketer. In the beginning of this book Malcolm covers a shoe company you may or may not heard of wish is hush puppies. I laughed because in High school I worked at the headquarters main retail store in my hometown so I learned a little bit about how the company came to be. Hush puppies was failing and it caught on with some kids wearing ...
Murphy took a break from travel writing following the birth of her daughter, and then wrote about her travels with Rachel in India, Pakistan, South America , Madagascar and Cameroon . In 2005 she visited Cuba with her daughter and three granddaughters. Murphy has normally traveled alone and unaided, without luxuries and depending on the hospitality of local people. She has been in dangerous situations; for example, she was attacked by wolves in the former Yugoslavia, ...

I realized not long ago that it had been a while since I read an actual book. I spend a lot of time at my computer screen and read a ton of websites and blogs, but actual books….not so much. And when I think about it I really miss reading. I used to read all the time. Louis Lamour and other westerns, Clive Cussler and the adventure genre were some of my favorites. For my return to reading I’ve decided to read business and marketing oriented books to increase my knowledge of my chosen area of expertise. I got the recommendation for my first book from Cory Miller and James Dalman’s Webdesign.com reading list . It’s called market research, surveys and trends
The Tipping Point – Book Review « Books, Science and Stories
It is hard to write a review for a book about which so much has been written. It was one of the most fascinating books I read in recent times. Malcolm Gladwell is an amazing writer. I bought his other book, Blink after reading this one.   The Tipping Point is an analysis of an idea and how it spreads. Galdwell examines an idea in terms of three dimensions which he calls the three laws of tipping point 1) The law of few – analyzes the kind of people who have huge influence on the ideas ability to catch-on. 2) The Stickiness Factor – Deals with the quality of message which makes it stick. 3) The Power of Context – Talks about ... market research, surveys and trends

At Frankfurt, Many Say Digital Will Take Over Print Books by 2018
Well, Gutenberg, it was a good run. But according to some 40 percent of 1000 industry professionals who participated in a brief survey at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair , issued via the Frankfurt Book Fair Newsletter, digital content will overtake traditional printed book sales by 2018. This is remarkable, given that ebook sales currently account for just a sliver of the estimated $25 billion book market. But, not so fast—some 33 percent of respondents said digital content would never surpass traditional books sales.  That finding was one of many to reveal a divide over how—and how ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Book Review: The Tipping Point
There aren’t that many economists who become celebrities; there’s something about the profession (or perhaps the people who gravitate to the profession) that keeps them from achieving the same level of almost certain celebrity as, say, athletes or actors.  One of the exceptions to this rule is Malcolm Gladwell, who has a tendency to write interesting and thought provoking books that get people talking (and sometimes end with him on a Talk Show). The first of these books is The Tipping Point , a look at how relatively small changes can have a disproportionately large effect.  It’s a somewhat counter-intuitive to ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Kagame's Rwanda: Investment magnet or pressure cooker about to burst?
Dark clouds may be gathering again over Rwanda these days; clouds of an increasingly autocratic regime, led by a man once seen as a liberator and influence for good. Let's take a journey through this African country's reality. Strangely enough, maybe there are three different Rwandas which coexist in the same physical space. There is the “Hotel Rwanda” version in which the country of 11.3 million has been a killing ground for generations with a terrifying, fratricidal genocide. This violence has washed back and forth over the entire Great Lakes region of East Central Africa, generating waves of refugees ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Coveys premise is that trust impacts everything and can make all the difference. He modifies the traditional business formula: Strategy X Execution = Results (SXE=R) to (SXE) T (Trust) = Results.
