a human resources consulting firm, has published its most recent edition of its annual Not-For-Profit Survey, which reveals some interesting data regarding current trends in non-profit compensation; in particular, the growing prevalence of formal bonus plans and some shifting in the total compensation mix. plan or agreement simply defers the payment of a portion of the employee’s compensation to a future date. The amounts are held back (deferred) while the employee is working for the company, and are paid out to the employee when he or she separates from service, becomes disabled, dies, etc. As will be discussed later, one of the keys in designing a non-qualified deferred compensation plan is making sure that the employee will not be required to pay income tax on those deferred amounts until the amounts are actually paid to the employee.

Goldman Sachs CEO Blankfein Is Eligible for $87 Million Bonus ...
Blankfein, 52, can get more because a compensation plan approved by shareholders earlier this year allows the firm to pay as much as 0.6 percent of pretax earnings to each of its 25 top executives. That works out to $87.4 million apiece, based on Goldman's $14.6 billion of profit before tax. Shareholders also eliminated a $35 million cap on bonuses paid in cash and stock. ``You almost have to feel for the other players because their performance has been dwarfed by Goldman's,'' said Brian Foley , a compensation consultant in White Plains, New York. ``At the end of the day, taking the cap out paves ... industry trends, business articles and survey research

Small business proposal writer: Help me design my bonus plan ...
I am the proposal writer for a creative agency. I write proposals for all our large projects and was specifically hired to respond to big RFPs, which are 2-3x the size of our typical large job. I also train staff on new technologies, refine our business practices, and help in production on the rare occasion when we are short-staffed.
