Identity Theft and Systems Theory: The Fraud Act 2006 in Perspective
Identity theft, phishing and pharming have suddenly raised issues in respect of law’s inability to deter perpetrators of such criminal activities. There is some justification for the growing concerns. The “Internet Security Threat Report” issued on September 17, 2007 describes the increased use of the Internet and its resources to facilitate identity theft, and the acquisition of personal and sensitive information to undertake online criminal activity. The Anti-Phishing Working Group, noted that 23917 unique phishing reports were received in July 2007. 1 The number of unique phishing sites created for ... market research, surveys and trends
Week 9: Women in the Information Society
The following is my synopsis on this week’s readings, grouped together under the vague title “Women in the Information Society.” I wish I’d been blogging the readings all along (as I did with my comprehensive exams) but this blog wasn’t up and running before the start of the semester, and then I sort of got busy, and forgot about it (!). Here goes… In “Constructing the information society: Women, information technology and design,” Jane E. Fountain (2000) explores the underrepresentation of women in IT. This translates into a human resources shortage, and lowered productivity. Her main ... market research, surveys and trends

1One might question whether all subjects understood the meaning of a “uniform distribution.” To overcome this problem, we briefed the subjects about the implications of a uniform (0,8) distribution and wrote the phrase “Demand is U(0,8) meaning (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8) is equally likely in each period” in large letters on the front board. This phrase was left on the board, in clear view, during the entire experiment. 8 This incentive scheme has a number of attractive properties. First, it provides a continuous incentive for participants to minimize cost in the game. In contrast to previous ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
The Ground Zero mosque and media conquest of Islam
Two faced indeed! The Imam, who is behind the controversial mosque at Ground Zero, dreams of Islamizing the United States. And, that very dream is exposed in his book, written on 9/11. Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf’s 2004 book had two different titles – one in English and the second in Arabic. In the U.S., his book was called, ‘What’s right with America is what’s right with Islam.” The same book, published in Arabic, bore the name, “The Call from the WTC Rubble: Islamic Da’wah from the Heart of America Post-9/11.” Here we see the two faced Imam, who actually is assigned to ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Does DNA contain the information for constructing RNA polymerase ...
Yes, RNA polymerase is coded for in the DNA. There's no such thing as magic ; ). When cells divide, there is already RNA polymerase present, so the new cells have enough RNA polymerase to transcribe more copies of RNA polymerase as needed, as well as all the RNA sequences necessary for life. At some point in evolutionary history, a cell acquired RNA polymerase and a gene for it, and that cell line has continuously divided like cells do today - in half, splitting the cellular contents in two. This division process ensures that nucleic acids, proteins, and DNA are always present in the daughter cell lines. ...
When constructing a diaper cake, how do you get the bottom tier to ...
I've never made a diaper cake, but I have been researching instructions on the internet. I don't know how to get the tiers to attach to the base, and to each other. Seems like loops of Scotch tape would tear the Pampers, and I don't understand how dowels would work if the tiers are graduated sizes, like a wedding cake. I have the basic idea, but just need this information. Oh, and what do you use for the bottom circle? It would have to be sturdy enough to hold the weight of the "cake" when transporting it. Guess I'm "dum," but I need help!!! I run a diaper cake business...."Diaper Cakes by ...
