Insight to the Lean Six Sigma Principles
The Lean Six Sigma Principles are union of the data driven Six Sigma process and lean techniques for minimizing cycle time and wastage of resources. Six Sigma is a data driven process that involves the DMAIC process. DMIAC can be defined as sequence of following actions – Define, Measure, Analyze, Implement & Improve, and Control. Initially data is collected and analyzed, and then the most appropriate strategies are adopted for implementation of the design. Margin for design improvement is analyzed, and certain tools such as TPM, Kaizen, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, LCC, OEE, and the likes of them, are used as control charts to ... market research, surveys and trends

Need to Know: Four New Trends That Can Spell Lean Success
"Lean" manufacturing is as much a philosophy as it is a strategy for eliminating waste, simplifying production processes, and helping companies become more responsive to life's inevitable "exceptions." Expand your lean thinking—and improve your chances for success in the years ahead—by understanding four of today's hottest quality and efficiency trends. Theory of Constraints Introduced two decades ago by former physicist Eliyahu Goldratt, the theory of constraints (TOC) uses the scientific method to find constraints in the production process (or bottlenecks), as well as solutions for ... industry trends, business articles and survey research
Focus on Your Constraints for Fast, Direct Improvements
When managers talk about constraints, they tend to use the term casually. However, a determined and well-planned focus on a business' real constraints - regardless of whether the constraint is downstream in the market (too few sales), upstream in the supply lines, or internal - can produce dramatic improvements, surprisingly quickly. There's no question that Lean, Six Sigma and ERP technologies dominate the conversation when it comes to improvement programs these days. Nevertheless, Theory of Constraints , or TOC, the technology that applies the principle of leverage inside organizations and supply chains, has ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

CIRAS - TOC and Lean
Eli Goldratt has said that TOC, JIT, TQM, and Lean are all pieces of the same puzzle. What exactly does he mean? I don’t know for sure. So the following paragraphs contain my opinions on this subject as it pertains specifically to Lean and TOC. First I ask myself, "What is the ‘puzzle’ to which Eli refers?" The following is based on the premise that the ‘puzzle’ is how to achieve the goal of a for-profit company. Thus companies with different goals may benefit more from a different approach. I do not intend to question the chosen goal of any company; only the owners have the right to choose ...

Real effectiveness of 6 sigma? | LinkedIn Answers | LinkedIn
About 9 years ago I got a 6sigma black belt and liked the data driven aspect. But I now view this approach as ineffective and even a distraction compared to other TQI methods, particularly in non-manfacturing applications like inventory for example. Do you think 6 sigma is a process that is good in theory but not in practice? posted 2 months ago in Supply Chain Management | Closed Share This President/CEO at Quality Projects Group, LLC see all my answers Best Answers in: Using LinkedIn (3), Public Relations (1), Supply Chain Management (1), Starting Up (1) This was selected as Best Answer While Six Sigma might work in ...
Which is the best tool for an introduction of a Lean manufacturing ...
There are plenty of tools for introduction of Lean Manufacturing like One peace flow, tact time, Value Stream Mapping, Five S, Kanban, Kaisen or poka-yoke. Additionally there should be organised structures, that will be able to implement them. All of this tools could be used in order to eliminate a waste. Based on my experience one of the best tooling for Lean was management of cost (I mean budgeting and controlling supported by Kanban and tact time). Which tool do you prefer? Any comment will be appreciated, as usually VSM is very good tool, but if you don't have influence on all Value Strem (such case is, wenn you are ...
