Maastricht Council has not just simply decided to start building at Bellevue: this building work is based on a vision. We would like to utilise all the space available within the city for building new homes so that we can preserve the countryside outside the city from building development. Bellevue is situated within Belvédère which lies in the northwest of Maastricht. Belvédère is considered as the area in which densification and urban compaction should take place over the coming decades. The area is some 280 hectares and is situated right by the city centre. A number of companies currently operating in this ...
was installed to reduce emissions and associated odours emanating into the nearby community. This has been used to generate electricity, which it has continued to do since the landfill's closing, sufficient to power 20,000 homes. The facility is registered in the National Pollutant Release Inventory , with site identification number 7371. 3 The site emitted about 314 kilotonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gases in 2007. 4 In 2002, the site was identified by the Government of Ontario as an Area of High Aquifer Vulnerability , which would prohibit waste disposal and organic soil conditioning facilities being built ...
More Rubbish
One of the many jobs I did in the late 90s was to drive a furniture lorry. I passed my driving test in the 70s, and my licence allowed me to drive any vehicle up to 7 1/2 ton without any extra training. These days you have to go on a training course. The lorry was fitted with a tachometer and it was a job to remember to fit a disc and then set it correctly. I've lost count of the times I drove miles while it was set for a mealbreak, or took a break while it was set to drive. The discs were stacked up in the despatch office and I never saw anyone ever look at them. Two or three times a week I'd deliver furniture around ... market research, surveys and trends

Large scale indicative of 'world we live in'
After hearing long analysis of the Marana Regional Landfill's potential impacts upon groundwater, surface water, traffic and the airport, Town Councilman Jon Post had to step back and wonder about scale. "One of the issues I'm having a hard time getting around," is "a 500-acre site that's 200 feet of trash," Post told Michael Racy, the consultant for DKL Holdings. "I just can't figure it out. What are you going to put in there?" "What you want for the region is a single, large facility," Racy said. Modern landfills are "only viably developed on a large basis." Smaller landfills are "not economically viable." ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Wanton disposal adding to city's garbage crisis
As the city’s garbage crisis lingers, heaps of refuse are being seen along the roadways and the Mayor and City Council is appealing to citizens to effect disposal at the landfill site or to bury their trash if there is available space. These two lads were doing their bit yesterday in Prashad Nagar to help ease the city’s garbage crisis. (Jules Gibson photo) When Stabroek News went around the city yesterday, garbage pile-ups along the roadways could be seen but some of the persons spoken to said that so far they have been coping by paying persons to dispose of their waste. However it seems that many of these persons are not ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
