Waste Management by Biogas production

waste management by biogas production special research report Photo by www.pegeng.ch
that industrial agriculture is one of the major contributors to global warming. There is critical need for international and domestic policy that mitigates GHG emissions from agricultural practices, and protects our valuable water resources . With optimization, anaerobic digesters with co-digestion of waste biomass prove a negative value for GHG emissions. We need policy that fosters such development in agricultural states , especially those states leading in factory farms . Advocates have claimed that the optimized diversion of manure to bio-gas production by anaerobic digestion is the only alternative fuel production that ...

Thinking Made Easy: BIOGAS FROM ORGANIC HOSPITAL WASTE RESEARCH ...
The paper discusses in brief the research proposal on the subject biogas production from organic hospital wastes. In particular, the research will focus on the pros and cons of biogas generation with organic medical wastes as the maun source. In this proposal, the background, the research questions and objective and the research methodologies are presented.   2.0   Title The working title of this research is drafted as: BIOGAS FROM ORGANIC HOSPITAL WASTE   3.0   Background The management of waste is one of the major problems of most countries most especially hospital waste. Waste Management sees dollar signs in our organic waste - SmartPlanet
Waste Management's landfill gas to liquid natural gas project at its Altamont landfill generates 13,000 gallons of fuel a day for 400 waste and recycling vehicles in its California collection fleet. It is the largest plant of this kind in the world. Waste Management is bullish on organic waste. The company’s Organic Growth Group has recently established a number of partnerships (with companies including Terrabon , Harvest Power , Enerkem Inc. and Linde ) to create value from waste streams. Currently, Waste Management’s landfill gas-to-energy projects use decomposing organic materials to generate enough energy to power ... market research, surveys and trends

WOOSTER, Ohio - A recent $2 million grant awarded by the state of Ohio's Third Frontier Advanced Energy Program to boost the amount of biogas produced from waste has at its core technology developed by Ohio State University's Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC). The grant was given to Cleveland-based quasar energy group (formerly Schmack BioEnergy) and several collaborators, including OARDC, Ohio State's Ohio BioProducts Innovation Center (OBIC), Rockwell Automation, Seaman Corporation, seepex and McCabe Engineering. OARDC will receive close to $1.5 million of the grant as a subcontract. industry trends, business articles and survey research

Waste Management's Far Out Trash-to-Energy Plans
For 25 years as waste management power plant on the east bank of the Hudson River has been burning every last scrap of unrecyclable trash produced by the 1 million or so residents of New York's Westchester County. Three 2,000-degree fires incinerate 1,900 tons of garbage a day and power a 60-megawatt generator that produces electricity. That may seem pretty cool, but these days such technology isn't advanced enough for the nation's largest garbage hauler. Waste Management Chief Executive David Steiner thinks that the 110 million tons of waste his company handles every year can do more than fill landfills and ... market trends, news research and surveys resources
Waste Management CEO Seeks Technology to Turn Trash into a Commodity
Although Waste Management’s power plant on the Hudson River burns all unrecyclable trash to power a 60-megawatt generator that produces electricity, chief executive David Steiner is on a quest to find the right technology that will turn garbage into a commodity such as ethanol, diesel, gasoline, natural gas or chemicals , reports Forbes. Steiner told Forbes he wants to own the conversion technology, and in support of his goal has made four investments in startups and joint ventures over the past year that range from developing a technology to speed up the composting process to using heat and chemicals to turn trash into ... market trends, news research and surveys resources

Biogas powerplant at AllExperts
By-products of this process are steam and hot water. The hot water can be recycled in a combined heat and power cycle to increase the temperature of the digesters to optimal conditions. s powering electricity generators, Hiriya , Tel Aviv , Israel ]] Biogas power plants are a combination of anaerobic digestion systems with associated electricity generators such as gas turbines or gas engines . The electricity they produce is classified as renewable or green energy and if sold into the national grid may attract subsidies (such as Renewables Obligation Certificates in the UK). Feedstock into the biogas power plants must be ...
Open ATCA Dialogue: The Mistake of Biofuels? Rising Food and Fuel ...
In the US, the benefits of biofuels have come under increasing attack in recent months, as scientists have taken a closer look at the global environmental cost of their production. These plant-based fuels were originally billed as better than fossil fuels because the carbon released when they were burned was balanced by the carbon absorbed when the plants grew. But that equation has proved overly simplistic because the process of turning plants into fuels causes its own emissions -- for refining and transport, for example. These studies for the first time take a detailed, comprehensive look at the emissions effects of the huge ...
